#1 Old Baldy Mountain

Yesterday, Pamela and I hiked the trail at Old Baldy Mountain - the first of our 52 trails in 52 weeks. Given we've not done any serious hiking in the past, we wanted to start with something pretty easy. Based on what we read in our book and what we've heard from a few friends, we thought this would be a reasonable choice. Either we're wimps or our friends don't know the definition of "pretty easy." As you can see from our stats below, this is no leisurely Sunday afternoon stroll, and we're feeling the proof of that today. But we did it, and frankly I think we did it pretty well. Now for a couple days of recuperation and then on to number two.

Total Distance: 8.05 miles
Elevation Gain: 2,084 feet
Max. Elevation: 6,117 feet
Total Time: 3 hours, 7 minutes
Moving Time: 2 hours, 42 minutes
Average Moving Speed: 2.98 mph

This is a rock pile we saw near the peak. We each added a rock to mark our achievement.
